Last weekend I convinced Jayson to take me to the Monet to Picasso exhibit that is currently on display at the Utah Museum of Fine Arts. It definitely wasn't #1 on his list of things to do, but he was a good sport and agreed to go with me. It was his first experience at a "real" art museum and I must say that he handled it very well! :) Afterwards he admitted that he actually found it to be more interesting than he thought it would be. I was so glad we went because it really was a spectacular collection. The entire collection is on tour right now and is usually housed at the Cleveland Museum of Art. We saw originals from the likes of Renoir, Degas, Monet, van Gogh, Dalí, Picasso and Matisse! Unfortunately they of course did not let us bring our cameras in :( so I don't have pictures. But I found a few of the pieces that we saw on-line. I think my 3 favorite artists we saw were van Gogh, Picasso and Rodin.
This was my very favorite painting we saw. The picture does not do it justice of course. The colors are extremely vibrant and the paint was put on incredibly thick, which I love! The paint itself seems to take on a life of its own with all its color and dimensionality!

I am also really into Cubism. I know a lot of people don't really get it, but I think these paintings are so interesting! I love the color, the line, and the abstraction. Here are a few selections.

How fabulous! I want to go to that exhibit. The problem is trying to get there without the kids because they are just no fun to take to an art museum!

So jealous! I heard about that exhibit from a friend living in Salt Lake and I have wished I could be there. I'm glad you enjoyed it. :)
Ooh! I've been wanting to go - I'm so cheap though that I've been waiting for Free First Wednesday to come around - I miss it every month for one reason or another. I think I'll just break down and pay to see the Masters' works.
I wonder if this is the same exhibit coming to the SAM(Seattle Art Museum)this fall. I'm certainly planning to take it in... like daughter like mother!
