I've Got a Golden . . .Birthday

You thought I was going to say "ticket" didn't you? :)

On Tuesday I celebrated my Golden Birthday. For those of you who are unfamiliar with the term, your Golden Birthday is when you turn the age of the day that your birthday is on. So in my case, I just turned 28 on the 28th of July. It is kind of cool because Jayson will be celebrating his Golden Birthday this year as well, he turns 28 on August 28th! Yes, I am exactly one month older than him. He likes to point that out, the being older part :)

In honor of our golden birthdays, my mom and sister Carolyn put together a Golden Birthday Box for us! They went all out with the gold.

The box was gold, the ribbon was gold, the little "Chinese Takeout" boxes were gold. We each got our own takeout box, I got gold bangle bracelets and gold nail polish; Jayson got some gold-toed socks. Then we got a box to share that was filled with 28 gold $1 coins. I didn't even know those existed! I have seen silver dollars before, but never a golden dollar!

We also got some fun books to read (tied with a golden ribbon) and of course plenty of delicious Werther's Original butterscotch candies. We opened the box on my golden birthday since we simply couldn't wait until August 28th. Thanks mom and Carolyn!

For my birthday Jayson really spoiled me. He got me an iPod touch. It is so incredibly cool! It has already done wonders for my workout; I ran farther on our walking trail this morning than I ever have before!
He also made me a delicious dinner of citrus salmon, asparagus, and fettuccine alfredo. He even gave me a shoulder/neck massage, which he really dislikes doing, but did it anyway for my birthday!

All in all it turned out to be a pretty good birthday.
