Anniversary Observance

With all the craziness of Nathan's wedding and then Thanksgiving we didn't really get a chance to celebrate our 1-year anniversary. We decided to have an anniversary observance on December 1st. Jayson surprised me with some beautiful and unique flowers. Purple and white! He had never seen purple roses before and knowing that purple is my favorite color he thought they would be perfect. He was right! They were gorgeous! He also got me a frame for a picture collage I have been wanting to hang, as well as the hardware to hang up a crafty thing I made at Enrichment night. He even helped me hang both up them :)





Utah recently got its first Cheesecake Factory, which we have been wishing we would get for a long time. So we decided that was definately where we had to go for dinner. It was pretty crazy! That place is always packed, but since it is so new there is still a lot of hype about it. We had close to a 2 hour wait to get seated so we went over to the mall and did some window shopping, which turned into some real shopping in the form of some new shoes for Jayson. Meanwhile back at the Cheesecake Factory we missed out in the excitement of a fist fight over a table! We heard about it when we came back. What is wrong with people?!! The Cheesecake Factory is pretty good, but exchanging blows over a table? I thought that was a bit extreme :) We finally got our table, which we didn't have to beat anyone up for, and enjoyed a delicious meal. We of course saved room for dessert! One of us enjoyed the traditional cheesecake topped with strawberries and the other enjoyed the chocolate coconut cream cheesecake. Do you know who ordered what? :)

After dinner we headed down to Sandy to Utah's Festival of Trees. This was my first year going and I was pretty impressed with the whole thing. They had over 400 large Christmas trees decorated and donated by people all over Utah. The trees are auctioned off and all the proceeds go towards Primary Children's Medical Center. This year my cousin Lindsay did a tree in honor and remembrance of her dad, my Uncle Kent, who passed away from cancer earlier this year. It was a very fitting tribute to a really amazing man. The tree was called "A Man for All Seasons", which he truly was. He loved the outdoors; skiing, rafting, fishing, hunting, camping. The tree represented all the things that he loved to do. The coolest thing was as we were looking at the tree my cousin Lindsay and her husband Eric showed up at the exact same time! It was so special to be able to be there with her and have her tell us about it. We saw some other very interesting trees/scenes. Whoever buys the tree also gets everything around it as well and there were some trees with a lot of stuff! I took pictures of a couple, but now I wish I had taken more. In addition to the large trees they also had tons of small trees, wreaths, centerpieces and gingerbread houses. Oh, another cool thing that happened while we were there is a bagpipe band came out of nowhere and starting parading around the room!
