The Stockings Were Hung by the Chimney With Care . . .

Well, we don't have a chimney and we don't have stockings (we have mittens!), but I did finally get some decorations up for Christmas. I did not have the energy to get all the decorations out when I got home from work the first few weeks of December, so our house was pretty bare for the first half of the month. I was not feeling very festive so I finally decided that I had to do something. Our decorations are pretty sparse this year, but I at least put up the Nativity, an advent calendar, some ceramic snow men, and our tree. Our tree is of the Charlie Brown variety, but it is still fun to have. Christmas is not complete for me unless I have a real tree and Jayson has been a really good sport to let me have one for the past three years. I was a bit lazy in the decorating though. I almost didn't even put any lights on because I didn't want to deal with it. However, it just looked so plain that I settled with one strand of lights that is basically just wrapped around the entire tree! I feel like such a bah-humbug! :) But in the end Christmas isn't about the decorations, so maybe my lack of outward display of Christmas spirit will help me focus more on feeling the deeper meaning of the Christmas spirit.
