The Riding of the Bulls

Last Saturday we cowboyed up and went to the Days of 47 Rodeo. It was the perfect night to go because it was the bull riding event, which is of course the coolest event at a rodeo. Our seats were way up at the top of the arena; the elevator was super slow and crowded so we ducked into the back stairwell and started to head up. Unfortunately the back stairs were not very clearly marked as to when you were supposed to get out so we just kept going up and up and up. Just as my calves were screaming in protest we reached the top, and I mean the top. We had climbed all the way up to the mechanical room and could go no further. The door we were supposed to use had been several flights earlier so after all that climbing for nothing we headed back down. We finally found the right door and headed out into the main arena. It was not crowded at all so we didn't even bother finding the right seats and just sat down. After about 20 minutes into it the arena workers came around and told everyone in the balcony that we could move down to the main level since there were so many seats. We thought that was very nice of them. So we ended up with awesome seats right where the bulls are released! I don't know who invented the sport of bull riding, but they were crazy! When it is right there in front of you you realize how dangerous it really is. Props to the clown guys that distract the bull from the rider, they are fearless. Here is one of the guys who actually stayed on for the full 8 seconds and then gets drilled by the bull after he jumps off.
